Filter'trons are a different design than the PAF/Gibson/etc. style humbucker. They're taller and narrower. I believe a smaller wind count but more powerful magnets. Broad'trons are a traditional humbucker design voiced to sound like a Filter'tron. If a guitar is advertised as having Broad'trons, it's from the low end of Gretsch's product lines.
