Tracking birds in flight takes lots of practice so find a common bird in your area and practice on that, whether it be a seagull or a turkey vulture or whatever. Bigger, slower birds are easier to start with. Shoot them every chance you get. Patience is also key - it's not every day an ibis flies past with a crab in it's beak.
