Sandwich Dome (3993′) is a massive mountain that dominates the western half of the Sandwich Wilderness, near Squam Lake in New Hampshire's Lake District. It's in an area that I've become quite fond of hiking this year, way off the beaten path in the southernmost section of the White Mountain National Forest.

It is located in the Sandwich Range. The mountain i flanked to the northeast by Mount Tripyramid and by Mount Weetamoo on the southwest.

Sandwich Mountain (or Sandwich Dome) is a 3,983 ft (1,214 m) mountain located on the border between Carroll and Grafton counties, New Hampshire spanning parts of the towns of Sandwich and Waterville Valley, respectively. The mountain is part of the Sandwich Range of the White Mountains.

Sandwich Dome is on the NH 52 with a view list. It misses the 4000 footers list by a couple feet, but it's still a very popular hike. The trailhead is only 2 hours from Boston, which makes it one of the easiest hikes in the Whites to get to. There are also 2 other peak stops, Noon Peak and Jennings Peak, which make for nice breaks.

The trail then climbs moderately to the summit of Sandwich Dome. Good views can be seen on Noon Peak as well as on top of Jennings Peak (class 1 but steep spur path). The Algonquin Trail is the most difficult (class 2) route to the summit of Sandwich Mountain. It traverses the southwest shoulder of the mountain and class a number of Class 2.

Sandwich Dome is a popular "almost-4000-footer" which tops the list of New Hampshire's 52 with a View and makes it on New England's Hundred Highest.
