While its name suggests a grape-nut base, the pudding actually gets its name from the addition of Grape-Nuts cereal. The original recipe was created in the early 1900s by a woman named Mrs. Leavitt, who made the pudding as a way to use up her stale Grape-Nuts. The original recipe for grapenut pudding called for milk, eggs, sugar, and Grape-Nuts.
