I didn't activate Berlin card till next day at any U or S bahn station as you time stamp ticket. That starts the card. It was great to travel on all trains or subways and not worrying about tickets. Did have discounts on hop on city red tour bus 24 hour or 48 hour, spy museum, Hitlers bunker, wall museum, ddr museum, Berlin tower.
