They weren't holding back. Really though, this 1998 Mantis with its naturally-aspirated 4.6-litre Ford V8 is more than enough. It packs a mightily impressive 327bhp, all of which is delivered to the massive rear wheels via a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission. It's a brute of a car, even without the GT's supercharger.

Marcos GT Originally used as a catch-all term for all of Marcos' cars until the introduction of the Mantis, the GT was available with a seemingly never-ending list of powertrains throughout its initial production run. The model was later revived as a kit car in the 1980s with newer engine options such as Ford's then-newest V6s and even a Rover V8.

The Marcos Mantis GTO was a special version of the Marcos Mantis developed specifically to compete in top level GT racing in the late 1990s. Marcos isn't particularly well known outside of the United Kingdom, for the uninitiated Marcos was founded in 1959 by Jem Marsh and Frank Costin.

MARCOS MANTIS GT

The Mantis GT was cosmetically enhanced with a rear underspoiler and carbon fibre dashboard as standard fitment. In all, 51 road cars were produced between 1997 and 2002 - 16 of which were supercharged, and the very last Mantis being built by Marcos Heritage. Interestingly there were only 3 coupe bodied cars produced of this model.
