Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and other markets provide ready-to-eat prepared beets (such as Love Beets) and you can also find beets in a can in most grocery stores (on the canned vegetable aisle). When using canned beets, look for ones with zero to low.

It does a good job highlighting the flavorful notes of the salad while masking the weaker ones. Good, but not good enough to rescue the salad from the beets.

The vinaigrette taste is not as strong as you'd think, but they do add a slight unique twist to regular old cut beets. These are basically pickled beets.

Trader Joe's Baby Beets (vegan) These steamed and peeled beets are very tasty, versatile and convenient. Added points for being a good vegan source of iron. Beets pair well with salad greens, citrus and goat cheese. However, I usually just cut the beets into quarters and toss them with a little orange vinegar, olive oil and rosemary.

It was with a heavy heart that I convinced myself I had to buy this marinated beet salad (ingredient: beets, some spices) and test its merits. That is my way, though. To give a second chance to what I don't spare a second glance.
